PE & CROSSBODY FITNESS
At My City School, movement is intentionally woven into the school day because we know that physical activity plays a critical role in cognitive development and academic success. Three to four mornings each week begin with brain-body integration exercises that incorporate bilateral and cross-lateral movement, balance, coordination, and strength training. These activities activate both hemispheres of the brain, strengthen neural pathways involved in attention and executive functioning, and help prepare students for deeper focus, improved regulation, and exceptional learning throughout the day.

In addition to our morning movement program, students participate in weekly Physical Education clinics that build teamwork, hand-eye coordination, agility, speed, strength, and overall fitness through a variety of engaging activities. Depending on the season, students may participate in Capoeira, basketball, tennis, yoga, strength training, and other movement-based experiences. Each year, students also complete a 15+-week Taekwondo and Self-Defense program led by Grandmaster Pope, where they develop confidence, discipline, perseverance, respect, and practical self-defense skills while advancing through board-breaking and martial arts achievements.
