At My City School, students learn how they learn best, and develop personal strategies they can bring to high school and higher education. My City School removes the stigma of learning differently and embraces the gifts that come with each learning style.
My City School was founded on the belief that students who struggle with traditional learning or who have an LD diagnosis remain learners with high potential and who deserve access to multi-sensory instruction across the curriculum; including science, math, language arts, social studies, Literature and the arts. We have re-imagined learning to be a place of dynamic and results-driven learning, partnered with enthusiastic and engaged students. Some new students enter the school with academic wounding and feel hopeless and with curiosity soon discover how good it feels to be a successful student. After nine years, MCS has become more than just a school - we have become a resource to the community to help understand not only how to teach kids differently, but how to design an entire learning experience that re-ignites and
fosters a love of learning.

Teaching Social Justice
Students everywhere are being exposed to many important social issues that can bring about questions and concerns. To help educators and parents better navigate these needs, we have added a list of resources focusing on topics like Social Justice and Diversity in the classroom on our Resource page. Please explore them with your child, and help students further amplify their voices and curiosities.

Parents Say...
"I have seen phenomenal changes in my daughter since she has become an MCS student. She went from being an introverted, person, who was afraid to raise her hand for fear of being wrong, to a confident young woman, who speaks her mind, asks questions, and works really hard. She has a new found understanding and a deep appreciation for time management, schedule planning, and multitasking. This is something I never thought I would see. [She] is well prepared for not only high school, but she also has critical life skills. She doesn’t just look at short term goals, she looks at the long term outcome of things and that is a powerful perspective to have in life."
- Kelly, graduated MCS parent at 2 years |
"Since our child joined My City School, we have seen a significant reduction in her anxiety which shows up across the board and not just in relation to school. The approach to teaching has really helped our daughter experience success, which has significantly raised her confidence and lowered her anxiety.”
- Art, Graduated MCS parent at 2 years |
"It’s hard to put into words the changes we’ve seen in our daughter in the two years (6th and 7th grade) she’s been attending MCS. When she started 6th grade she was pretty quiet, reserved and didn’t have much confidence as a learner. With the help of the tremendous staff and resources at MCS, as well as her own hard work, [She] shows much more confidence in her ability to tackle various learning challenges in different subjects. She’s blossomed as a creative writer, has expanded and grown as a person, and developed leadership skills - she enjoys helping and teaching other students." - Jeff, Graduated MCS parent at 2 years |
