Students explore artistic traditions from the civilizations and historical periods they are studying, examine the relationship between art and scientific discovery, and apply mathematical concepts such as symmetry, perspective, proportion, and geometric design through hands-on projects.

Grades 4-5 Art is EVerywhere
Grades 6-8 Art Through the Ages

  • Explore relationships between individual identity and global trends

  • Delve into local art offerings to enhance learning across the curriculum

Our students learn from talented Bay Area artists and visiting specialists who introduce a wide range of artistic techniques and mediums, including watercolor, sketching, painting, sculpture, mixed media, mural design, and contemporary forms such as Invader-inspired mosaic art. Art experiences are further enriched through visits to local museums, including the De Young Museum, Asian Art Museum, Mission Cultural Center, and other cultural institutions, where students engage directly with artists, exhibitions, and the diverse creative communities of San Francisco.

National Core Art STandards (NCAS)

Grounded in NCAS, our program provides students with ample opportunities to explore various art modalities through creating, performing/producing, analyzing, and connecting.
